The Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior QS) will play a key role in managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring that costs are managed effectively and that projects are delivered within budget. The successful candidate will provide support in all financial aspects of the project lifecycle, including cost estimation, contract management, and financial reporting. The Senior QS will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate cost control and compliance with contractual obligations.

Senior QS Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for projects.
  • Monitor and control project costs to ensure they remain within budget.
  • Conduct regular cost analysis and provide updates on cost variances and potential savings.
  • Manage contract negotiations, variations, and claims.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Administer subcontractor agreements and manage subcontractor payments
  • Prepare and present regular financial reports, including cost forecasts, budget updates, and cash flow projections.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and project-related expenses.
  • Report on project profitability and identify areas for cost optimization.
  • Identify and assess financial risks associated with projects.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Ensure contingency plans are in place to manage potential financial risks.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and value improvement without compromising quality or project objectives.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with project teams to implement value engineering solutions.
  • Maintain effective communication with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders regarding project costs and financial performance
  • Provide expert advice on cost-related matters and contractual issues
  • Lead meetings with clients and stakeholders to discuss financial aspects of projects.
  • Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors and other team members.

Senior QS Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably within the telecommunications or construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of cost management, contract administration, and procurement practices.
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects and working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional membership in RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or similar professional body is preferred
  • A strong understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
