About the Role

As a Repairs Workshop Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of specialized equipment. You’ll be part of a skilled team committed to delivering excellence, ensuring equipment is ready to meet client demands on time and to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

Repairs and Maintenance

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues on electrical and mechanical equipment, including three-phase appliances.
  • Perform repairs safely and professionally, ensuring stringent quality standards are met.
  • Research and source components needed for effective repairs.
  • Conduct final testing (including PAT) to ensure equipment is functional and safe.

Stock and Workflow Management

  • Use inventory tracking systems to monitor repair tickets and maintain accurate records.
  • Coordinate with colleagues to retire equipment that is beyond economical repair.
  • Ensure repair supplies are maintained at optimal levels in collaboration with the inventory team.

Workshop Organization and Safety

  • Maintain an efficient and organized workshop environment.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and control measures.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Share technical expertise with colleagues across departments and locations.
  • Communicate repair feasibility and complexities clearly to stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

Technical Skills:

  • Confidence in handling a variety of technical equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and electronic principles (essential).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings (desirable).

Experience:

  • Prior experience in electrical or mechanical repairs, particularly with three-phase systems (preferred).
  • Familiarity with the lighting industry or similar technical fields is an advantage.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Valid UK driving license (essential).
  • Training in health and safety regulations is an advantage.
